Secret Weapon

I assure the reader than unless there is something that my coworkers aren't telling me, this post is purely fantasy in nature. And for the records, the Gameboy version of the Ren and Stimpy video game did use farts as weapons. So there you go.

Day four and five of filming on Franklin Wunder is this weekend. Luckily Monday I have off both work and filming, so I can actually relax a bit. Not to bad to have a four day week afterwards either.

SO MAGICAL

I think the moral of this story is that if you sleep through your job, you won't get anywhere. Conversely, there is no magical success room (that I have the key to.) I did talk with the big boss about where I might go in the company, and got a lot of good advice. I was surprised at the supportive nature the meeting took; many companies feel threatened when you tell them you want to advance.

In other less comic news, we didn't win the "Daily Grill" contest. Oddly enough, the one that took grand prize isn't even that good, the one that took first prize is genious, and the one that took second is the one I thought would win it all. Guess you never know who the judges are. Still, it was fun to make, the commercial is good resume padding, and I did get to test out the 35 mm adaptor prior to using it on Franklin Wunder, the feature that I am kicking the butt of. Man, it's looking good.

Frustration

I think there must be some sort of cabalistic secret society at work in my office. Their goals are shrouded and mysterious, but their tools consist of the singular ability to withhold work until 5pm. At this point, they have consistently dumped said work on my lap with the immediacy of eating a popsicle on a hot summer day while wearing your wedding tux. Suffice to say they expect it done fast, and when asked why they didn’t give the request sooner, the answer is a silence that can only be explained by their early exodus for the weekend. Life is good, but sadly sans comic for today.

Mmm, mmm, good redux

Three days down on filming Franklin Wunder! And we have a website now! Go to wundermovie.com to keep up to date with production, take a look at stills, and watch behind the scenes videos on the process. Man, so many goodies, I should make you say "Trick or Treat" first.

All said and done, filming two days in a row is tough work. Especially when you have to go back to work on Monday. Ugg.

So I just found out that the director of Franklin Wunder has a web series documenting the production of said movie. I was even more surprised that I was in this web series. Aside from finding myself stunningly good looking and hard to look away from, I watched all 15 episodes and was imbued with a sense of weight. This project is massive, not necessarily in scale (though it is feature-length) but in emotional impact. Either that or Chris is a closet editor at heart. Go Google Finding Wunder and you will see a very interesting process of how to make an independent film take place. And the last three episodes (which I am part of) are quite funny. Correlation? Maybe.

While You Were Out

Back and almost better, making comics and dreaming of Iron Man 2, which I will see tonight. All personal accounts say I will like it.

Other entries into the Daily Grill Commercial contest have risen on youtube, and after viewing all I could find, I honostly don't think I will win the grand prize. First prize I can see, but there is another commercial that unless they get hit by a technicality, or the judges just don't like it, it's going to win. First prize isn't bad though, if I get second place I will be surprised in a bad way. 18 days until they announce the winners, so we will just have to see.

Sniffle

Got off early today, just as well. I am coming down with a soar throat/cold that even two packets of Emergen-C and six cups of various teas cannot stem. Hopefully a good night sleep will spell the end of this unwanted invader. Maybe going home and booking my honeymoon will lighten my spirits.

Thought For Food

Filming began on Franklin Wunder this past weekend. Feature film with real actors, real equipment, and a real script. You might have seen us at Fat City Cafe, surgically destroying the place and then rebuilding it. Just by the shots that I put together so far, I think they might just get a logo plug, so good for them. They were very accomidating, and they should get free publicity. And with the high quality of the footage we have so far, they are going to get a lot of publicity.
